Cracks at home similar to the one in Joshimath have appeared in homes at Nayi Basti in Thathri area Doda district.
Authorities have confirmed that cracks were reported in a house in December in Doda district and they have started to increase as the area is gradually sinking.
As many as 20 families were shifted to safer places after the Nayi Basti area in Thathri municipality of Doda District started sinking as a result of which dozens of houses develops cracks and had become unsafe.
There was a fresh panic among the residents of the area having around 50 to 60 houses at around 12.30 am when a major landslide below the village resulted in the collapse of some houses.
The area is continuously slipping due to various factors including the use of machinery in the construction of roads along with seepage of water resulting in the wreaking of bed roads beneath the village.
Officials of the local administration also visited the spot and assured all possible help to the affected locals.
SDM Thathri Athar Amin Zargar told Times Now that people are being shifted to camps and tents and added that a team of experts also examine the area and declared it unsafe.
Zargar said that the phenomena being observed in the area is beyond repair and hence the whole village is being shifted for which Deputy Commissioner Doda has already issued necessary directions.
The inhabitants demanded relocation and compensation for the land and structure so that they could shift at safer places- and established themselves.
In Uttarakhand, on one hand, the matter of the landslide of Joshimath has become a sore throat for the government. At the same time, due to the re-activation of the landslide in Lower Malroad of Nainital, the cracks in buildings have increased the concerns of the administration.
